"IT" has arrived at The Age UK West Sussex Cherry Tree Centre, Fairfield Road, Burgess Hill.

The Cherry Tree have been fortunate in securing a grant from Burgess Hill Town Council enabling us to refurbish of one of the Centre's rooms into a fully operational IT Suite.  In addition, the quiz evening held at the Martletts during Burgess Hill Festival Week back in June (organised by Dave Turner and sponsored by P & S Gallagher) raised funds which were vital to this refurbishment.
The Cherry Tree offer IT classes for all abilities, from complete beginners, to those more advanced who are interested in information sourcing for things like genealogy etc.  (There is a charge for classes.)
Presently classes are held on a Monday but there are plans to schedule more.
There are also plans to open an Internet Cafe - watch this space!
So, are you a complete novice or can you do a little but would like to do more?  Our IT sessions may just be what you need!

Why don't you pop in and have a look?  You are assured of a friendly welcome and a show round of the Centre, come along and see how things have changed, you won't be disappointed.

To book the IT Classes please contact us on 01444 236497*.

If you'd like to have a look round first, then please drop in at any time, we'll look forward to seeing you.

*You need to be over 50 and become a member (which gives you access to a whole range of services at very good prices).

Ready Steady Cook!

Last night I had the privilege to take part in a fundraising event that Tennyson Insurance held in aid of Age UK West Sussex!
To my delight, I was asked to be a judge for this "Master Chef" type of event, held at our Laburnum Centre in Bognor Regis.
Of course I agreed to taste two starters, mains and desserts cooked by the contestants consisting of a red and blue team.
Being a non- commited chelsea supporter of course did not sway my marks...!

I was delighted when I was brought out two whole plates full of main meal to feast on, and may I say both were delicious!
The blue team provided me with chicken satay skewers, bombay potatoes and a mediterannean type vegetable dish with rice, I found it hard to fault!
The red team came out with beautifully tasting chicken, herbed new potatoes and green peas... again this was delicious.

My favourite part of the evening without a doubt (apart from the free wine supply) was pudding!WOW..

Blue team made a delicious dark chocolate mousse with a cream topping coated in forest fruits, unfortunately there was not enough for me to share with everyone!

Red team made a circular cheesecake with rasberries and a rasberry coulis, beautifully presented!

I was accompanied by our Good Neighbours Service Volunteer Mary, and her client Ann, who both also thoroughly enjoyed the evening.

"At the ready steady cook evening held at the Laburnum Centre on Thursday 30th June we were supplied with a mixture of very well prepared and presented meals, it was a very pleasant experience and enjoyed by us all and thank you to all involved!"

Here are a few photos from the evening.
