Heart FM Volunteer of the Year - Local Hero Awards!

"Age UK West Sussex Crawley Volunteer Mary Grace, was nominated for, and won Volunteer of the Year from Heart FM Local Hero Awards.
Mary regularly drives our mini bus on a Wednesday to bring members into the centre; she also drives for our 'out to lunch' clubs and brings in members for our singing group every Friday.
In addition to her voluntary work for Age UK West Sussex, Mary also volunteers supporting youth work in Crawley and for Neighbourhood Watch.
We would like to congratulate Mary on her much deserved award."

Congratulations Redwood Centre!

Our wonderful staff at the Redwood Centre Haywards Heath (and their Husbands and Husbands Colleague) took part in the Greater Haywards Heath Bike Ride!
They rode 19.1 miles in just 2 hours and 20 mins!
I think that is a great achievement, and would like to say thank you on behalf of Age UK West Sussex.
Here are a few pictures of the day:

Keep Fit Class!

Good Morning, and what a lovely morning it is.
Not only is it mine and Age UK West Sussex' four year anniversary tomorrow, but it is also two staff members birthdays next week, which can only mean one thing.... CAKE!
Not one, two, or three... but FIVE cakes are now perched nicely in the kitchen strategically placed alongside the kettle and drink supplements... now when I go to make myself a nice brew I have that to contend with!

Anyway, what I really want to talk about to you is our new Extend Keep Fit class, held at our Tamarisk Activity Centre in Littlehampton every Thursday. (Ironic I know).

The class is a great way to keep fit, healthy and in ship shape, and everyone is welcome!
For those already members of the Centre, the class will be included within your membership fee, for all non-members the class will cost £1.50.

If you are interested in this class, please call the Tamarisk Centre on 01903 730007.

Royal Wedding

So the most talked about day of recent engagements, is slowly but very surely creeping up on us. Yep, Prince William will be marrying the extremely beautiful Kate Middleton on the 29th April 2011. The thought on a lot of peoples minds (other than how beautiful Kates dress will be) is “how are we going to celebrate this Royal event?”
Well, if you, like many others out there will be alone on this day, are aged over 50 years old, and live in the West Sussex area, I have the perfect idea for you!
Why not visit one of our 4 Activity Centres, that will surely be hosting a fun packed day including lunch, where you can mingle with others, and really celebrate this wonderous event. For more information contact the following centres on:

  • Littlehampton Tamarisk Centre – 01903 730 007
