Help set up a dementia awareness day:
Please speak slowly, as I don’t understand,
My mind is wandering in some far off land,
I have this Dementia inside my head,
My body aches, my legs like lead,
When you speak, please speak to me,
I`m still the person I used to be,
Not over my head, or to my carer,
This makes my mind wander ever further,
I`m still alive and have much to do,
If you speak to me, I will speak to you!!!!
Beautiful poem by Norm, who three years ago was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s “Early onset” and since then has campaigned long and hard to give people and their carer`s/loved ones with this awful disease a VOICE and to reduce the Stigma that is unfortunately connected with Dementia in general.
